Why Clean Solar Panels in Raleigh?

Keeping your solar panels clean is great for curb appeal, but that's not everything. It's about performance. Think of all the dirt and grime that builds up on your car when you don't wash it for a while. While rain does some of the work, it simply cannot get everything off, and your solar panels become more and more dirty.

This is known as photovoltaic (PV) soiling - the accumulation of contaminants like dirt, dust, tree sap, pollen, and other debris that accumulate on the surface of your panels. This is why we recommend a regular cleaning for your solar panel system at least once a year to help with:

  • Maintain energy production
  • Extend the lifespan of your solar panels
  • Protect the ROI of your solar investment
  • Identify potential issues with regular inspections at each cleaning

Have Questions About Raleigh Solar Panel Cleaning?

  • Do solar panels need to be cleaned?

Absolutely! Over time, your solar panels accumulate dirt, pollen, bird droppings, and other debris that impact sunlight captured by your panels. Having your panels cleaned regularly ensures optimal performance and lifespan.

  • How often should my solar panels be cleaned?

We recommend cleaning your solar panels once to twice per year, depending on environmental conditions. If you live in an area with heavy dust, pollen, or bird activity, more frequent cleaning may be necessary to maintain optimal performance.

  • How much does solar panel cleaning cost?

The cost of solar panel cleaning depends on the size of your system and its accessibility. At Solar Clean NC, we provide professional and affordable solar cleaning services tailored to your needs. Contact us today and discover how we can help you save more with clean panels!

  • What is deionized water?

Deionization is the process in which naturally occuring minerals in a water source are removed via contact with ion exchange resin. This resin is simply a sand-like particle that catches positively or negatively charged minerals as they pass by. When a filter is filled with this resin, water passing through is completely stripped of all contaminants and referred to as pure or DI water.

  • Why use deionized water?

Water left on the panel surface will evaporate and leave behind mineral deposits or "water spots". Just like your car after a wash, if excess water is not wiped down you will see that same spotting. Deionized water does not have any of these contaminants and can be left to dry without the risk of spotting.

  • How often should you monitor the efficiency of your panels?

While your raw output depends on many factors, comparing your panel production to the year before helps to remove seasonal variations as a cause for concern. A good habit is to check your panel performance each month as you receive your energy bill. If your production compared to last year is noticeably lower there is likely one or more of these issues: panel soiling, animal damage, component failure.
